The Sherpa
villages of Helambu due north of Kathmandu valley presents an
easy getaway. This area because of its low elevation and the
Sherpa villages make it an interesting 6 day loop. Starting
with a short drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal the trail to
Helambu climbs on to the Shivapuri ridge from where there are
sweeping views of the central Himalayas. Following a ridgline
the trek heads north to Thare Pati before turning east to
Melemchi Gaon and Tarke Gyang the principle villages of this
area. From here we visit Shermathang before descending to the
Melamchi river to end our trek with a drive Melamchi Bazaar
back to Kathmandu.
Moderate
trekking between altitudes of 1,370m/4,500ft to
3,490m/11,500ft. Accommodation in comfortable lodges run by
local families. The trek starts with a drive from Kathmandu
and includes all meals, services of experienced trek guide and
porters to carry luggage. Clients carry a day-pack only and
walk at their own pace

Day 1 Kathmandu
Day 2 Kathmandu
Time to explore the great wood and metal carved palaces in the
3 queen sities of Kathmandu valley Kathmanduu, Patan, Bhaktpur.
Learn and see how the budhist and hindu got along with their
religion in Baudhnath pashupati and swoyambhunath
Day3 Chisopani
Bus from Kathmandu to Sundarijal then trek to Chisopani.
Day 4 Gul Bhanjyang
Chisapni to Gul Bhanjyang (2130m): Route goes through the Pati
Bhanjyang valley the land of the Brahmins and Chhetris. There
are some hotels and tea shops as well as a police station
here. The path then follows a steep ascend to Chipling at
2170m, followed by a stone staircase of 200m climb on at a
pass at 2470m. Gul Bhanjyang is at a height of 2130m and
consists of a tamang Village.
Day 5 Tharepati
Gul Bhanjyang to Tharepati (3490m): This trek follows a trail
two top ridges. From these two points, Yuri Danda and Panghu.
danda 3285m there is a spectacular view of the mountain
series.
Day 6 Tarkeghyang
Tharepati to Tarkeghyang: This is a very interesting village
for trekkers, as well as being the largest in the area. Tarke
Ghyang has slightly commercialized due to the local good
antique sellers.
Day 7 Thimbo
Tarke Ghyang to Thimbo (1580m): This trail includes a
rhododendern for forest, mani walls, chortens, Sherpa village
and Kakani.
Day 8 Talamarang
Thimbo to Talamarang (940m) : This valley is fertile and
enabling farming of crops and vegetables such as paddy, wheat,
potatoes. The Brahmins, Chhetries and Newars occupy the lower
land. After crossing a suspension, you will arrive at the
village of Mahankal (I 130m).
Day 9 Melamchi Bazaar
Talamarang to Melamchi Bazaar (830m): this is a highlight of
the trek the stunning views of the streams, water falls and
landslides are amazing. Finally, there is a climb to
Seramathang (2620m). At Sermathang is the Langtang National
park, entrance fee payable. If you do not want to stay at
Melamchi Bazaar, there are places for trekkers to stay just
opposite Sermathang.
Day 10 Kathmandu
Drive back from Melamchi Bazaar to Kathmandu.

Tour ends after breakfast
